Naked Truth No.37 - The Christmas Edition

It's that time of year...AGAIN! We say it every year like it creeps up on us unexpectedly. Like it mysteriously pops up out of nowhere. It's only on the same day every year, yet we're all left scurrying around at the last minute in fear of being considered the “Grinch".
.
Why do we do this to ourselves? Is it because we're just too busy making a living? Let’s face it. No money. No gifts right?
.
But then there's this world we live in nowadays where everyone has everything. What do you buy someone that has everything?
.
I remember back to the ‘good old days' when you had birthdays and Christmas. And you'd write a wish list of all your ‘want's’, then say a prayer the night before hoping all your wishes will be granted.
.
I mean yeah, I’m pretty sure this exercise still sits true, but how hard is it writing these lists now?
.
My point is, that the joy of giving, or the process behind it has lost a bit of it's meaning because we live in a disposable society where no one wants to wait for anything. The process has become a bit of a chore. And in the frantic last days effort to make sure you don't come up short, we end up buying something just for the sake of it. Gifts that really have little meaning, and offer 10 seconds of joy for you and the person you're watching unwrap it. Never to be thought of or seen again. Eventually ends up in landfill and we're left scratching our heads as to why the world is in the mess it's in...
.
Sound about right? Gee now who's sounding like the Grinch? I’m one of those people. You know, the one that has everything and is hard to buy for. Why? Because who waits for birthdays and Christmas to satisfy their shopping urges?
.
But what if we change our thought process and fully embrace the selfish natured society we've come to create? Put a positive spin on it. Why not make a purchase that has equal value to you. Not just the receiver?
.
Why not make sustainable purchases this Christmas? Think of these purchases as investments. Investments for the future of OUR planet.
.
This is where I’m supposed to urge you to go through our site and purchase our sustainable fitness-wear. And yes, by doing this you'd ‘feel good’ and ‘do good', for you, your loved one and the planet. And Making your Impact just got a whole lot easier this Christmas too. With every purchase we donate $1 to the Tangaroa Blue Foundation to help keep Australian beaches debris free.
What about baking a gift or donating to a charity? Or foster an elephant or animal? To me this is far more creative and thoughtful. You'll feel pretty good about it too. I did this last year through the David Sheldrick Wild Life Trust. Not only did we make a donation to foster some orphan elephants and Rhinos for the year, we also got monthly updates on our chosen ones keeping us informed of their progress. Truly the gift that keeps on giving. Check them out here.

.
It's all just food for thought though. I guess the real question is, how do you want to feel about gift giving and receiving this year? I know I’m not too thrilled at the thought of my hard earned money ending up in the trash by the new year!
.
In case you haven't had the WODUP workout experience yet - our sustainable garments are made to stand the test of time. We pride ourselves in producing high quality, sustainable clothing that will see you through more than one season. .
Merry Christmas all. Let's turn the season of 'The Giving' into feeling good by doing good, not just buying stuff because we're supposed to.
.
BUY LESS. CHOOSE WELL. MAKE IT LAST.
.
Big love.
